FROM THE OXFORD MAIL.
ONE of Oxfordshire's biggest music festivals – Fairport's Cropredy Convention –has today revealed the first names for next year's event.
Now in its 41st year, the festival will take place from August 13-15 at its traditional home outside the village of Cropredy, near Banbury.

As usual, the three-day event will be opened and closed by founders and organisers Fairport Convention. The traditional extended Saturday set will include founder member Richard Thompson – widely regarded as one of the world's finest guitarists. He will also perform a solo set of his own.

Thompson will join the original Full House line-up of Simon Nicol, Dave Mattacks and Dave Pegg – with fiddler Chris Leslie standing in for the late Dave Swarbrick to play the whole album.

Also appearing are Thumping Tommys and Edward II on the Thursday; Maddie Morris, Emily Barker, Home Service, Martyn Joseph, The Slambovian Circus of Dreams, Sharon Shannon and Turin Brakes on the Friday (with headliner to be confirmed); and Richard Digance, Holy Moly and the Crackers, Bar-Steward Sons of Val Doonican, Rosalie Cunningham, Matthews Southern Comfort, Richard Thompson and Fairport Convention on the Saturday.

HMMMMMM...apart from Full House, no boat being floated yet.

Maddie Morris, for those not recognising the name, was the Radio 2 Young Folk Award recipient 2019.

Good basis for a great festival ,me thinks.

Just need to put Merry Hell in to make it a great year in potential.

Holy Moly were very lively and went down a storm when I saw them at last years Beardy. E11 are always good.

Turin Breaks are a nice Indie band easy to like.Great to see the Bar Stewards back and Ive always had a place in my heart for Home Service (Hope they do Babylon). The Old Hippies in the crowd (60% I guess)will

love the Slambovians and I will. The Thumping Tommy's might be the surprise star turn.(We all love some Old Crow Medicine Show type Bluegrass dont we?) Mathews Southern Comfort is a nice one too.

Im enthused.

Seems to be an act missing on the Thursday (headliner?) - only three listed so far (FC, Thumping Tommys & Edward II) - aren't there usually four? Maybe the OxMail have it wrong - headliner on Thursday to be announced, while Turin Brakes headline Friday?

The only name I didn't know was Rosalie Cunningham (Prog - ex-Purson - never heard of them either)

Maybe it would be a good idea to give out press releases AFTER they have made the official announcement!!
It’s alright being pissed off but I’d imagine the oxford mail haven’t guessed the line up.
