Not sure why but i seem to prefer the Martin Turner band doing Wishbone Ash stuff.

Me too, by a country mile...and, for me, I'm fairly sure I know why - because he's the voice of the early material and is much more comfortable playing stuff from that period and does it more faithfully (I think).

Having said that, I met Andy Powell outside the Chester Live Rooms the other weekend.  I was walking my demented old pa-in-law around and did a "oh, you're Andy Powell" double take.  He was brilliant with the oldie.  Lovely guy.  They were holding their fan club convention there.

West end centre Aldershot    November 1st.   Multi-award winning musician and songwriter / Freddie Mercury Scholarship Winner / PRS Guitars artist Leoni Jane Kennedy performs an acoustic tribute to Rush with special guest Eóin de Paor from Moving Picture (Rush tribute uk).  No idea what its going to be like but sounds interesting and is only a 10 minute walk from home.

The Westy is now just over 50 years old in being and was started by my old English/drama teacher and a few other teachers from the school. Started as a drama theater place, later music, comedy etc gigs.  As an apprentice carpenter joiner, I got involved following a meeting with ex teachers in a local pub and helped build the stage, stage flats etc for the first ever performance of Guys and Dolls.  Its gone on in leaps and bounds since then, now part of the Hampshire cultural trust.   A bit more corporate now than the early days, but still a good place to be.

New World Woman is an excellent album. I'll be very interested to hear how the gig goes.

Pete Roth was ace.  Missing Ian tonight due a prior engagement in Clitheroe with Dervish.

All 4 of the current band seem lovely chaps, always willing to chat, have photos, etc.  They were on top form on Friday, btw, and their sound man should be applauded his superb work. Not sure the middle-aged gut a few feet to my left noticed, he spent the entire 1 & 3/4 hour show playing on his phone!  If you've got £32.50 to burn.......
