Tonight at West Austin's One World Theatre (I believe they use the English spelling) -

Friday, Dallas, Texas, at the American Airlines Center:

The Two!  I mean, The Who!

According to my scientific database, since 1982, it will be my 30th show by The Who, John Entwistle, Pete Townshend, or Roger Daltrey (not even counting the 1983 ARMS concert with Kenney on drums). Will it be the last?  I asked myself that question four years ago, and two years before that...

Looking forward to seeing Home Service (with John Tams back with them, alongside John Kirkpatrick, I believe) on Monday at Nettlebed.

Next gig: RTs 70th at RAH on Monday, provided I can figure out a foolproof way of getting to London and back after recent terrible experiences.

After that it is probably The Long Ryders in Hassocks at the end of October unless I make a last minute decision to take in the Icicle Works in Farncombe in between.

Yes indeed - they would be BRILLIANT for Cropredy - excellent band & songwriting - saw them at the Brudenell in Leeds as few years back with everyone sitting on the floor spellbound. Thought at the time, this would be just perfect for Croppers...!

A regular haunt of mine over the years (decades).  I've even played there myself.  Enjoy.  They're a good band.

Here's the blurb from the website:

NETTLEBED VILLAGE CLUB - ‬Monday 30 September 2019

LICHFIELD GARRICK THEATRE - Friday 18th October‬ 2019

LOWDHAM VILLAGE HALL - ‬Friday ‪7th February 2020

NEW FOREST FOLK FESTIVAL 2020 - Friday 3rd July 2020‬

St EDITH’S FOLK CLUB, Nr. SEVENOAKS - ‬Friday 17th July 2020

If you thought Home Service had gone a bit quiet recently here’s the latest - the band is back with some great gigs in the diary and the major news is that John Tams has re-enlisted alongside John Kirkpatrick as joint front man and lead vocalist. This is very exciting for us all and furthermore there are rumours of new material, which could mean we might see the boys back in the studio before long. Main thing is, just don’t miss this rare opportunity to be blown away by the sheer might, grace and grandeur of the one and only Home Service when they come your way.

That's exciting (and surprising) news.  Fab.

Red warning lights flashing - The Who ended the Houston show last night after 8 songs because Roger lost his voice.  (Glad I skipped it and went to dinner instead.)

Fingers crossed that tomorrow's show in Dallas goes forward.  If not, I have a non-refundable hotel room in downtown Dallas and no concert to attend.

It's becoming a greater and greater struggle for Roger.  They're going to at least have to start transposing the keys down a step.

He's always said he'll know (most recently in his book) when to stop.

I thought it was really interesting that the advertising for the new 'Oo album had Pete writing: "This album is almost all new songs written last year, with just two exceptions. There is no theme, no concept, no story, just a set of songs that I (and my brother Simon) wrote to give Roger Daltrey some inspiration, challenges and scope for his newly revived singing voice. Roger and I are both old men now, by any measure, so I’ve tried to stay away from romance, but also from nostalgia if I can. I didn’t want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Memories are OK, and some of the songs refer to the explosive state of things today. I made new home studio demos of all these songs in the summer of 2018 using a wide collection of instruments old and new.”

Hopefully, it really is just a cold or something...
