There is absolutely no way I would go back to camping on the normal fields due to the stewarding and timing.

Purely out of interest (not a dig!) hat did you mean by that Nick?

cheers

You turn up like good boys at 7AM and find that half the fields are full, Stewards don't listen to a word you say (about needing a level pitch , size of pitch and much more). There are simple solutions but nothing is even considered. We find it so much more relaxed on Bridge Meadow (the rest of you please stay away  Grin).

Yeah - the fields almost full already is really odd.

Last year (2018) was a real fraff for some reason. We had a convoy of 6 vehicles and they couldn't come up with any solutions even though we had suggestions (sensible and non rude ones!) but this year (4 vehicles) they were actually really efficient and listened to our requests fine.  Pot luck i suspect. This on field 4 both times.

As a friend said a few years ago "Its only the scouts - not the ******* SAS!"

This is all speculation

I doubt it will change

I'm with you on the whole, sis. However, all these extra places with bands kind of take away from Fairport's principle of a single stage festival. And more than once I could hear music from The Edge or Field 8 while there was something on stage in the main field.
Yes you would have from where we were camped - field 8 was nearer than the stage!

It's a new camping field opened up a few years ago. I don't think it's run by FC but is certainly endorsed by them. It was it's own tiny stage (undercover) and they put on a good fringe there. There's a bar and food and a bouncy castle but that was abandoned due to the wind.

At the moment you can pre-book it and arrive on the Wednesday, but you have to have tickets to the main field to get in, so there are no camping-only tickets.

At Bridge Meadow, anyone can camp and you don't need to have a ticket. They do food but not music.

The Edge is at the top of the field next to the main field and you access it from the main road. You don't need a ticket or a camping ticket, and it's a bar, food and a stage. You can't camp there. We saw a cracking band on the Thursday.

Itís opposite the shop formerly known as spar.  No food for a couple of years since the robberies.
