I recently read his autobiography (50p and signed) which was either a bargain or extravagant waste of money depending on your point of view. I liked him less after reading the autobiography than before. As for his set I enjoyed it. And it would seem from where I sat the majority did too though he is clearly a marmite character.

What was in the autobiography that made you like him less? Just wondering.

His sniping at others, he came across as petty.

I might not agree with some things he says, but he is a class act - always make a point of watching him.

He likes a good snipe, did he have his traditional pop at us again?

A lot of people enjoyed his set.

A fair few didn't.

Each to their own.

Not us, specifically, but he did briefly slip in that he gets moaned about on social media.

We enjoyed having him back , for the hanky morris dancing mainly.

Always enjoy his set and his songs are entertaining. Maybe itís because his reminiscing always brings back real memories for me....itís an age thing  Smiley

Missed most of his set (on purpose) because I went to the car boot sale, but there were so few sellers there - about half the normal number, if that - that I was back before the end.  I was one of the very few around me not standing up and waving hankies.

But I'm old enough to remember that the era he looks back on through rose coloured glasses, was just awful. The late 50s and early 60s were absolutely no fun at all. That and the jingoism lite he espouses.  Undecided

However when he turns his mind to it, he writes amazing deeply clever stuff. Not what you hear at Cropredy.

He did have a pop at the people around the bar for being "miserable". It was on the radio broadcast. It was unnecessary and made for uncomfortable listening.

Everybody knows what heís like so why criticise every time? All comedians/comedy singers have something about them that people donít like but I donít hear/read this every time they perform. Itís his Ďthingí so what?

Hear, hear!  His act is based on a bit of audience participation.
