Hi, encouraged (wisely or not) by a thread on the Fairporters Faceache page, I've set up a petition to Wadworth's to reinstate Original 6X to the Cropredy bar as they've announced that they're only bringing 6X Gold this year (as well as Cropredy Hop and Fairport 5).

Please bear in mind this is a strictly tongue-in-cheek petition, without any malice to Wadworth's, to see if they take notice.

Sign here, folks :

I emailed them regarding having diet (ie non-sugar) coke available at the bar some years ago and they very kindly changed their policy of full-fat-only coke for the following year and all since.

So there may be some chance of them taking notice.

I can't drink 6X... Well I can, but the crowd around me don't appreciate it the next day.

Don't drink too much bitter these days but had 6x at the weekend and it was good. For us more effete individuals, can we have a petition to ask them to ensure they have enough red wine to last until the end of Saturday? I think I have said "No, Rose isn't the same as red" as often as I have sung "Meet on the Ledge" over he last God knows how many years.

Do you know whether they will have Corvus Stout again this year? It was very, very nice...

Not that long ago, in terms of decades, Waddies produced a lovely strong beer called Old Timer. 6.5% or thereabouts, much revered at Cropredy. Then some marketing guru infested the brewery and ditched it saying "the name doesn't fit the modern image" or some such bolos. Now you have Superhop and Golden, aimed at snowflakes, hipsters and other such people.

Hopefully the Cricket Club secretary will have noted this and increased the order for OH.

Enjoy yourselves, people  Smiley

Gladly signed & shared.

We're fortunate enough to have the Hook Norton Brewery on our route to Cropredy It works for the camping, but would appreciate Proper 6X returning to the field.  Smiley

Started coming to Cropredy too recently to have had 6x on site but I retain favourable memories of the stuff from previous years and places.  I've added my name to this if only for a bit of fun.

As the previous poster we will likely detour via the Hook Norton brewery before arriving.  Mmm.. Hooky Gold... Grin

Few CAMRA members that live in Devizes drink Wadworth....

Its not showing on their website but in the winter they do produce Old Timer still - that's actually not too bad.  But only available in the darker months...

By "original" 6X does that mean the 6% stuff that was originally brewed?  rather than the  4.5-ish % it then later  became, and the now 4.1%

No. it means the standard current 6X.

6X Gold, the only version they've sold at Cropredy for the last year (or two?) is the gluten-free variant, and supposedly it tastes noticeably different to regular 6X.

That may be a benefit!  ;-)
