long delivery time on that 3 Sept - 6 Dec I suspect those will never appear now and eventually you'll get a cancellation or order...I ordered mine, and got it the next day. ah ok Just had email that mine's been despatched and due for delivery tomorrow...crikey ! Ok, I've just finished this, and I must say I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it. A couple of interesting anecdotes, but you really have to look for them amongst the sheer ordinariness of how people discovered FC. One point of interest - I was amazed by the number of people who discovered FC later in their lives, well after the Farewell Farewell era. Otherwise this is one for the completists only. I was in my late teens when I discovered Fairport, in the very early 80s, so maybe not well after the Farewell Farewell era, but certainly not later in life!  I was too young to have ever seen them with Sandy, or even with Swarb (other than as a guest). And yes, many of the stories are 'ordinary', but then many of us are 'ordinary'.  I enjoyed reading both books for that very reason.

Picked up the following at my favorite record store yesterday (Hoboken)
Take Me Back To Tulsa-4 disc Bob Wills collection Johnny Cash At Folsom Prison (Legacy Edition) A Bob Seger 2 disc UK imprint that includes some real rarities such as Rosalie, Innervenus Eyes, and Lenny Johnson…not official release but I couldn’t resist Steeleye Span-Liive At The Bottom Line 1974. One interesting thing on this one is a medley of 3 Irish tunes-Musical Priest, Silver Spear and the High Reel. Well known tunes I’m sure Peter knew but that pairing makes me think someone had been listening to Horslips!
  All for $45!

emimusic.com has a number of boxed sets and vinyl records at 30% off - I think for a few more days.  Nothing much in the folk/roots/jazz categories, but I've ordered the Peter Hammill box

I'm currently reading Ian A Anderson's autobiography (Alien Water), and when he mentions 3 Mustaphas 3 I am reminded that I never heard anything by them, and I feel I ought to have done.
Matt Steady's sampler is available for free from him. I really like his music - his last album Flight Of The Raven is brilliant. TBH I prefer his instrumental stuff to his songs though.
On topic, while visiting Guildford at the weekend for Al Stewart's concert, I went to the local HMV which is apparently closing at the end of the month.  I picked up a few reduced price CDs: the 25th anniversary edition of Buena Vista Social Club, Shirley Collins' Archangel Hill and Dexys Too-Rye-Ay 'As It Should Have Sounded' remix (single CD edition). Also Sheku Kanneh-Mason playing Elgar's Cello Concerto which will do nicely as a present for Mrs Will's Christmas stocking.

Music Magpie on eBay are knocking 20% off orders with a code for the next couple of days, so it seemed like a good time to grab the new Who and Dylan boxed sets. Amounted to a hefty saving of over 40 smackers.

Whilst in Southport for Mike Courtney's 70th birthday party at the weekend, we popped in to the Roy Castle Charity Shop there and picked up
Runrig - Mara Jaco Pastorious - Word Of Mouth Pink - I'm Not Dead
for a grand total of £1.
  Happy with that.
