A mix this week with just the one Danny Thompson-related track as I had already put the playlist together before I heard of his passing. Next week's show will be something of a DT tribute. So this week you can hear the following on Ginger Feather FM at 1pm or 8pm...

Jon Palmer Acoustic Band, The Low Countries, Merry Hell, Molly Tuttle, Bob Dylan, Clannad, Lunasa, I'm With Her, Billy Bragg, Richard & Linda Thompson, Pentangle, Toby Hay, Ninebarrow and Marit & Rona

It's very tempting to play a good half dozen numbers by RT and Danny but there are so many other albums to choose from. Obviously there have to be tracks by John Martyn, Nick Drake and Pentangle along with RT but then I saw a posting by Ian McNabb about the album of his Danny played on. Then I thought I could play Victoria by The Kinks as that was the name he gave his double bass.  Smiley

Alas, this evening there will be no Scattering The Roots (folk, roots, blues, etc...plenty of etc...) show.

This is due to Pompey playing a Wednesday evening fixture at home to Watford, meaning that this evening, both Scattering The Roots and Hannah Roper's superb Express FM Country shows are making way for live coverage of the match...

Rest assured, normal service will be resumed on Wednesday 8th October and beyond for Hannah and yours truly's shows.

In the meantime, if you're missing Scattering The Roots, do have a listen to previous editions of the show online via Mixcloud at this link here :

I've recorded my Danny Thompson tribute show and uploaded it to Mixcloud. After posting about it on Facebook I had someone comment saying "but what about the Incredible String Band albums he played on?" Well, sorry, I ain't heard them. Gimme a break, it's only a 1 hour show and I picked some of my favourites and tracks I'd only just downloaded by the likes of Marianne Faithfull and Ralph McTell.

There are 3 RT tracks because I only ever saw Danny play with him. If you don't like the playlist, make your own one up.

Very true. I don't think the comment the person made about the ISB was meant as a criticism. I'd had a rather stressful evening and you know how it is - sometimes an innocent comment can suddenly become a personal attack.

And I've been doing radio shows for long enough to know that trying to second guess what people might want to hear is a waste of time. A couple of people have favourited my Danny T show on Mixcloud which is good enough for me.

Unfortunately I've now come down with a flu bug so am not going to be up to recording anything for next week.
