I have been giving Richard Thompson's Amnesia a spin it's a great album with so many good songs. It hangs together really well, I go back to it quite regularly could be one of my favourite of his albums. Great songwriting too can't fault it.

That one was my entry point for RT. Still one of my four or five favourites of his records.

Great songs. I'm on the fence about Mitchell Froom's heavy-handed production. He also produced Kiko by Los Lobos, around the same time, and Fundamental by Bonnie Raitt, two albums I absolutely love in spite of the production.  He was kind of a flavor-of-the-decade producer, I guess.

I have Mitchell Froom's Dopamine album it's certainly an aquired taste. Well I think I have it, I have to admit I haven't seen it in ages!

Monolith of Phobos - The Claypool Lennon Delerium.

A relatively reasonably priced copy of the vinyl has found its way to me from Holland. This is getting hard to find for sensible money on this side of the pond. Nice orange and red swirly vinyl.

The music? Well, it is their debut album and clearly in thrall to Piper era Floyd. I am having a very jolly time listening to it.

Various tracks by a guy called Michael O'Gara via YouTube. I can't find anything more about him...

Cold and uninspiring Bank Holiday Monday

Good excuse to rehabilitate some vinyl.

Pleased To Meet Me - The Replacements
Shelter - Lone Justice

so far. I was massively disappointed by the latter album when it was first released and as a consequence have not played it for over 30 years. Will I feel any better about it now?

And the answer is, no I don't. Bombastic production of mostly sub standard songs compared to their splendid debut.

I have moved on to:

Lost & Found - Jason & The Scorchers
Loaded - Velvet Underground

Yes it is, and I speak as a Van sceptic.
