I'm sorry, my daughter isn't coming out tonight.

Lucy Rose - No Words Left.
Raw, honest, truthful and at times hard to listen to if you’ve followed Lucy’s output so far but by goodness it’s her best album yet.

I recommend it to the house. She isn’t touring a lot at the moment so catch her where you can

This piece of prime 80s music

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ybGue1jye4

This was my brother-in-law's band and the video has been created as a tribute. I'd love it if lots of you could like it on YouTube. It would make their day  Smiley

In 1987, 3 lads from around Warrington, Cheshire formed a short lived but very popular group called The Article. Homeland Situation was one of 2 "demo" tracks they recorded. Late in 2018, the lead singer, Phil Box lost his battle with cancer. After a gap of 32 years, the 2 remaining ex-members, Mike Guy and Keith Roberts got together and have produced this video as a tribute to Phil. Enjoy.

Guy - the new album of Guy Clark covers by Steve Earle & The Dukes. I was predisposed to like it because I love Guy Clark but Earle fans need not fear, it sounds every inch like a Steve Earle & the Dukes album and a really good one at that.

I have spent most of the last week working my way through Michael Nesmith's Songs box.

I already had much of this material in one form or another but it is nice to have all of the albums collected together. It is a shame that The Ocean has not been included and perhaps The Wichita Train Whistle Sings & Rays but the latter two are somewhat experimental in nature and do not really fit with the box title of "Songs".

The first three First National Band albums are of course essential and there are delights to be found everywhere else too. The pick of the post RCA albums are definitely From A Radio Engine toa Photon Wing and Infinite Rider on the Big Dogma. The Prison & The Garden are both new to me, both included without their accompanying books sadly but the latter, which is mostly instrumental, is just lovely

Some complaints on line that the bonus tracks from last years digital releases have been excluded from this set but having streamed them I don't think they add much. Nice to have FNB versions of Circle Sky & Six Days On The Road but otherwise they are largely just instrumental backing track outtakes or slightly alternative versions of existing songs from the albums.

£50. Twelve discs. No filler. What's not to love?

Lots of Albion Band and Ashley Hutchings the last few days: Gloucester Docks Live, Guv'nor series, I Got New Shoes, Rattlebone & Ploughjack, The Prospect Before Us, Give Me A Saddle, I'll Trade You A Car and 1990. All great stuff.

Rob, have you heard the Albions' "Captured" album?  Tis a collection of 13 tracks from 1990-91-92

Released (escaped!) in 1994 but long since out of print, I imagine, but HTDCD19 is the catalog(ue) number...

I do have Captured thankfully! Good collection as well with the addition of Julie Matthews to the group.

As someone who grew up with Led Zeppelin (my first ever gig was Led Zep in 1971) -I really like Greta Van Fleet. I posted a link to their cover of MOTL a while ago and it wasn't well received on here, although I rather like it, but their own stuff is really good. It's nice to see that young guys are still producing decent rock music.
