Have to admit I have been looking at the Beth gibbons, I have a recording of the Gorecki it is certainly not listen to it if I was feeling emotionally fragile, still an amazing piece of music

Well, this looks interesting to me: Another survey of UK folk rock but some real obscurities mixed in with the "bigger" names... http://www.imwan.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=108374

I'm furious with myself I've missed the signed version (which was the same price).

There's quite a few similar ones around, but this does look nice...and there are a smattering of unreleased tracks (or versions) on there too. I'd probably want to see on in the flesh first.

Yes I thought so too. As usual, I have much of the material, otherwise . . .

Just noticed there is a new Gong Album on the way - The Universe Also CollapsesAvailable for pre-order. Radio edit of one track here https://youtu.be/VQQbIi4Xc5ESounds like Daevid Allen singing not sure if they are still using stuff recorded before his death.

Less folky than the first two albums from what I understand. More of a straight up rock album. I'm looking forward to it but I hope the change of direction is not a mistake.

The single sounds exactly like it's a long lost follow up to Shoot Out the Lights. Absolutely impossible to dislike, but like most of their material, I can't but help wonder why they are wanting to follow the R&L line quite so slavishly?

They are very rocky live (full band line up obviously). Fronted by two electric guitars, not an acoustic in sight when I saw them.

I'm thinking I might just stop with the debut album, and the ep I have. I like their sound but I don't really want a more rocked up version.

If you like rocking R&L there's nowt to be afraid of. One is a direct extension of t'other.

Thanks for the "heads up" PaulB… I've ordered the 2CD issue - going to see them at Rough Trade Brizzle Fri 16th Aug to collect my copy (and get it signed?) I saw James and Kami supporting the RT Trio a few years ago and was well impressed then - not just R&L Mk2, though there are similarities & influences, but a fine duo/band in their own right.
