For those of you who enjoy your folk a little heavier...

Folk-rock revivalists Galley Beggar will be playing one of their few shows this year on 17th November at the Railway Hotel in Southend-on-Sea.  Expect paisley, flares and guitar solos aplenty...  Support from fellow folk-rockers Green Diesel.

Tickets are £5 in advance (plus 50p booking fee) or £8 on the door and are available from the band's website:

http://www.galleybeggar.com/wordpress/gigs/

If anyone fancies this it'd be a great night and lovely to see as many people as we can get in there!

Thanks
Greg

I'd love to see them at some point....I have a couple of free downloads via the band's website, and would like to find out more. I tried to see if they have a discography on Thikipedia but I got 'Did you mean: gallery bengal'. No, no I didn't.  Smiley

They're on at the fringe at Cropredy next year, I see...good-oh.

The Railway?!!!  Grin Shocked Roll Eyes

Indeed so - they have quite a nice upstairs performance space.  Seen a few of the London psychedelic bands there recently (Green Seagull etc).  I take it it may not have the best reputation then...?

Its 'reputation' goes back a long way, so can't speak for the upstairs room these days!  Roll Eyes Club Riga is a music venue used quite a lot but can't vouch for that in recent years either! Galley Beggar appeared about 2-3 years ago at the Hoy Folk Club, so can't understand why they aren't there again for this gig?

That is a good question that I can't answer as a lowly support artist!
