Did anyone here see them? Is it the original lineup?

I'm sure it's on here somewhere, but as I recall it, it's not but it has plenty of original members.  I really liked them back in the day...

Recycling this thread for - yes you’ve guessed it! Fringe gigs - gigs in the fringe of Cropredy.

I’ll start with The Skalectrics, a north Oxford band currently playing in Field 8. Bloody ska-tastic!!  Fez  Fez they’re in the Red Lion tomorrow too. Must dash - I need to dance!!

Just to resolve this, given that they said that they had not played together for 20 years and this was only their second gig after reforming, I am guessing that they did not play at the fringe last year.

And yes, as far as I can tell he 5 musicians were all original members, though I think they were a 6 piece first time round. And they were bloomin' marvellous yesterday.

Clarion were very enjoyable on thursday. Nice beer, good weather, terrific music. Very waspy though, stripy little bar stewards.

Being a relative newcomer to this folk malarkey (about 20 years), I knew nowt about the band, so a nice surprise. Saw nothing else at the Brase or Lion.

I was there! We tore ourselves away after the first few numbers from Cregan & Co's rather good set of Rod Stewart/Faces numbers in the main field and went along to the Brasenose where Sindogs were in full flow. Very loud, noisy, grunge-y guitar tunes (mostly unfamiliar to me) but very good. Several songs based on stories from the bible, and the most recognisable word from the lyrics was "blood", which may give some idea of the set content - certainly not light sing-a-long material.

Not unexpectedly, Zal Cleminson is older, greyer and larger (much like many of the audience, particularly me!) but some of his moves, body language and guitar posturing was recognisable from the latex-clad fellow on SAHB's Top of the Pops performances.

After explaining he didn't really want to feature "old" material, but he'd been badgered by fans..., he launched into a superb "Isobel Gaudie.

The finale was a very fine version of "Framed".

I'm very glad I was able to see him, and I'd certainly go again were he to tour.

Simon.

So how would we feel about a main stage Saturday with Clarion, Leatherat, Vikki Clayton, Iota, Merry Hell, Leatherat, Spank the Monkey and Fairport?

Went to the Brasenose to see Sin Dogs, excellent.
Merry Hell, also excellent.
And Spank the Monkey,  a very, very good band.
Well done Brasenose.
At this rate, you will be overtaking the main stage with 'have to see' acts!
