Yes. I think there's more to 'A Man Needs a Maid' than unreconstructed sexism.

There is indeed.  Really it's a song about being hurt, lost and wanting to be looked after.

Sky Trails by David Crosby.  Very mellow.  A little jazzier than his normal fare.  Features a very nice cover of Joni’s Amelia.

This Version of Life by Welsh band Red Ethel. Superb jazz/folk with shades of Pentangle and a truly awesome voice in Kate Hardy.

New acoustic album from the Levellers "We the collective".  New arrangements of old songs  (plus 2 new ones) recorded at Abbey Road studio. I am enjoying it , really stripped down sound and some pleasant orchestration on some old favorites.

Mike Oldfield : Light and Shade  (Mercury 2CD, 2005).

Sort of New Age/ambient, in a nice way.

John Prine - The Tree of Forgiveness

This is included with every ticket sold on his current U.S. tour, and I'm so pleased (because I likely would not have bought it otherwise). It's 10 new songs, extremely melodic, and with his trademark wit.

No, I can't say that's the case, although the idea of the joint Mike and Micky tour warms the cockles.  Always liked their vocal blend.  Me & Magdalena is one of the finest records of the past few years.

Over in Floyd fanland, a bemoaning of the lack of anything Animals related in terms anniversary editions, box sets, DVD or live albums in favour of yet more DSOTM, WYWH, Wall or PATGOD variants

Looks like a special edition of Animals is finally on its way:

A limited mono vinyl pressing of Piper for Record Store Day too. I'm more interested in a new mix of Animals though.

Animals was remastered by James Guthrie in 2011 and re-released in The Discovery Box.

The surround sound version will be new, though.

It was, but it was notable as the only album from the classic mid-to-late 70s run not to get an Immersion box set.  Maybe this will be along those lines.
