It would appear that Domino records have lost a court case regarding their right to produce Bright Phoebus and that the copyright issues with Celtic Music surrounding this album are still unresolved.  If you haven't already bought the family-endorsed reissue, then snap it up now, as it's about to be deleted and become a very expensive collector's piece.

Me too, but I'm less than glad that the Bulmer family are still sitting on the Leader catalogue and suing when they should be doing something positive with all that material.

This is such heartbreaking news...for so many wonderful artists, and so many fans of these artists' music.  It's a tragedy...and I can't get my head around it.  I don't hate many people, but....

As someone pointed out on Eliza's Twitter feed - if it's some sort of investment for the future, then what or who for?  Most fans of this music will be long gone before anyone gets to hear much of it again.

I had a girlfriend in the business who knew some of the people involved.  Their take was that it was simply about insecurity and control.  The fact they could stop this music getting out there gave them a buzz.  I've read nothing that makes much more sense than that.

The other thing that baffles me was that if no arrangement had been made with Celtic Music before the Domino reissue was released, then surely to God this was bound to happen.

Aye.  I'm inclined to agree with you.  I think they must just have taken a gamble that with Dave dead it would all be ok in the end.  Pretty idiotic.  Fwiw, here's the end of the press statement as put out on twitter...

All I can say is the Nic Jones catalogue just needs to be available again.

Yeah, that stuff is tied up with the same family, right?  Nic could surely use the income.
