Thanks for that, I didn't see that it was on, I will be listening to it on I-player tonight, it's a perfect match of actor and production...brilliant. We are so lucky that we have recordings to relive the great performances from so many great artists that we love.

Excellent.  I always loved Jeff's "suicide note in weekly instalments".  Was worth buying the Spectator for that alone...

He didn't.  He was an illegal bookie at his pub, a critic and a journalist. Amongst other things.

It was brilliant!  Sometimes you just have to alter your plans and stay in the car until it's finished. One of the best radio plays I've ever heard, by one of the best acting voices ever.
