One of the songs from the Carrivick Sisters' latest album which they played at their gig in Lancaster last night. Support was from John Kelly who played a good set as well.

The fabulous Diana Collier of the mighty Owl Service (now sadly back on indefinite hiatus again it appears).  An excellent Anne Briggs cover and a gorgeous song of her own...

Thanks to Will for the heads up re Wildwood Kin. Nice cover of an old CSN number and the room they're playing in doesn't make me feel so bad about the size of my cd collection!

R.E.M. released their seventh album “Out of Time” on this day in 1991. It has sold more than 18 million worldwide.

My (Everyone's?) favourite track with a great contribution from Kate Pierson of the B-52's both vocally and in the accompanying video.

Haha. You do know that this was the track that nearly everybody both in the band and in the fandom felt they had to apologise for, right? Losing My Religion was most people's preferred track (and their biggest hit). I was always a Near Wild Heaven man myself.

My daughter is a music student at Edinburgh College where they run a studio recording session once a week for students to record and film a performance. She joined my band last year on a charity gig for a few songs including Karine Polwart's Follow The Heron and last week the 2 of us recorded it for a Music Box Session. It's such a joy to get to sing with her.

Just a guitar, two fab voices and a great song, really did it for me. Took me back to my folk club days where I began to appreciate music in a stripped back form.
