Next up - Sir Elton John, December 12, 2018, at the cavernous AT&T Center in historic San Antonio, Texas!

I've seen a few shows here, including Elton/Billy Joel Face2Face a few years back.  It's everything you would expect from a modern basketball arena.  Massive echo and muddled sound, and a football-field length between audience and performer.  Looking forward to it!

It reminds me of Roger Daltrey's comment during the Quadrophenia show at the Ice Palace in Tampa, Florida in 1997: "I'm sure this is a great place for playing hockey, but we can't hear anything up here."  (Pete subsequently asked the crowd to "shut up" so he could hear himself play.)

Curse of Lono at 81 Renshaw, Liverpool on Friday. Their gig at the Soup Kitchen in Manchester a couple of weeks ago was one of the very best of the year for me, so a bit of a no-brainer not to go for a repeat in Liverpool.

The Travelling Band at YES, Manchester on Saturday. Hometown gig at a new venue with the promise of a marathon set with special guests.

Judy Collins is doing a show near here in January. Chelsea Morning has always been special, but I've no idea what she's like now, or if her voice is holding up at all... should i go for nostalgic reasons or better to save the memory?

I would go simply because you may never get another chance. Still think she has (had?) one of the best female voices ever

Judy was touring with Stephen Stills last year, and I was told she was in good voice.  Mind you, with Stills struggling so much to be in same, it may have been a comparative conclusion rather than a definitive one.

I saw her last year in Austin and she was wonderful. She tells stories and sings beautifully. She had a broken wing, so she wasn't able to play guitar for us. She was accompanied by a pianist. Her operatic highs weren't always right there (possibly because I attended the second of two shows in the same evening), but she went for it nonetheless. Recommend (thumbs up emoji).

Not exactly a gig, but I have got tickets for Mrs Will and I to the live recording of Radio 3's In Tune Christmas special on Friday.  She's more of a classical music fan than me, so it's her treat mainly, but Jackie Oates is supposed to be singing a song or two as well, which will do me fine!
