Emily Portman @ end of this month. Haven't fully decided to go yet. It'll be my first gig this year, as I sort of swore off them. I do however like the idea of seeing an act  I'm less familiar with.

Any of you come across Houndstooth before?

"One minute they might strike you as a kraut-rock band with a country lead guitar player and the next more like a mournful surf quartet."

I love 'em...and am very excited to have booked tickets to see 'em in Manchester in September.  For £7.70 a ticket.  It must be 1990...

Tickets bought to go and see The Punch Brothers at the Southbank Centre on 1st August - have a bunch of American friends visiting then who are very keen, so should be fun!

Actually looking at a full timetable of upcoming gigs! This is a rare thing these days.

Taking the lad to Beacon Festival next Friday so he can see his current favourite band, Rusty Shackle. Then off to Basingstoke to see Suzanne Vega for the first time in decades.

The one I'm most looking forward to though is The August List in the Unicorn in Abingdon, partly because I can walk to the venue and partly because they're fab.

Then it's Maverick Festival the weekend after that. (Line the beers up, Skirky!) Time flies doesn't it?

Cheers

Does anyone have any questions for the Joe Boyd Q&A?  Fez

In retrospect, does he now regret pushing Sandy in the solo direction and away from working with bands, like Fotheringay, given the patchiness of her solo albums - moments of brilliance, but padded sometimes with less good material, and as time went on, rather over produced?

And back on topic, before the Punch Brothers and Cropredy, we have tickets for one of Brass Monkey's farewell gigs, at Nettlebed.

I am a little miffed that I will have to miss the Mischa Macpherson trio's concert there a couple of weeks later as we shall be on holiday.  Though since we are off to Cornwall I'm really hoping that we'll be able to catch the Fisherman's Friends in their natural habitat in Port Isaac.

I've been looking for an opportunity to see her again after really enjoying her Cropredy set. There aren't any gigs on her current list that I could comfortably get to, but we live in hope.

My next concert is on 2nd July, which is Justin Hayward at Porthcawl. Never seen him solo before but if his last solo CD and the performance at the recent Moody Blues gig are anything to go by, I can't wait

And does he regret undervaluing pretty much everyone in Fairport except Sandy & Richard and therefore ultimately being something of a divisive influence?

Ooh, very to the point, Gub.  Yet totally fair.

Ginger Baker jazz trio? quartet?

Tonight at the scenic One World Theater in beautiful west Austin, Texas.

In the unlikely event he comes out after the show, I'll try to get a photo...

It was a magical night.  Before he played the first song, he announced that he had just been released from hospital for pneumonia, and warned us that he was not 100% recovered but didn't want to disappoint us.  It was mesmerizing to watch and listen to him.  Mrs. J from A tells me it was the first time she had ever heard "melody" and recognized song structure emanating from the drummer.  I couldn't agree more.  If you ever have an opportunity to see this man perform, grab it.

Fabian Holland at Twickenham folk club on Sunday.  Intrigued to see him, as he is playing support on part of the Fotheringay tour.

Bought my ticket for Emily Portman. The advertised  £10 pound tickets didn't exist, so i got a £12 one. Didn't want to spoil the ticket  clerk's day, or mine.  Cool
