A whole lotta mid 60s Bobby D comin' (y)our way!

http://www.bobdylanisis.com/dylan-digest

The 6 disc version looks pretty damned comprehensive, so God knows what's on the 18 disc alternative!

Struggling to get excited about this one. Not the next release I was expecting and there is other stuff I would prefer to have first.

Come on this is getting stupid ... paying serious money for multiple tracks that were never intended to see the light of day outside the studio?

There's a reason that they haven't been released ... because they weren't as good as the finished version.

Usually true, but with Dylan that's not a concrete fact.  He has made some downright peculiar choices in the past, leaving superior versions and songs in the can.

If that 18-CD version had been, ooh, a hundred bucks cheaper, I'd be all over it like a rash.

Philistine.
A price cannot be placed on genius, or the gullibility of the record buying public and there are none more gullible than devotees of  great, and not very great at all, men. Thats how L Ron Hubbard made his packet.

Yes, Jim.  Try reading the first post in a thread next time.   Roll Eyes

The 2-disc version is clearly for lightweights though.   Wink

I have been called many things but, as those here can attest, never a lightweight.
There was a time pre 2008 when i might well have said bugger it! Go for the big box. But I'm now a retired investor living on a small income, so the 2 disc version looks appealing. You could be a gent and stick the box on an mp3 disc for me.

I got as far as the checkout for the 18-disc preorder and then chickened out.   Cry

Considering that part of the reason for these mega boxes is to compensate for illegal downloads reducing an artists income by creating a desirable physical product and thereby exploiting loyal fans, one wonders if it's counter productive.
