I have a Fairport item which may be of interest. Would someone direct me to the 'for sale' thread if it still exists?  I can't seem to find it. Thanks, people.

Things I never knew part 423.1

Alan Prosser (Oysterband) was (briefly) in the Albions... c.'83, I think.

The People's History books bandwagon keeps on going...being put together by the same chap, but carrying Georgia's name for, I assume, obvious reasons.

Was there any folky in the late 70's to early 2010s who wasn't in the Albions at some point in their career?!

Not many!

All of the current FC have played with the Albions with the exception of Peggy (presumably, two bassists would be an extravagance).

Even the late Gerry Conway played with them. I've just remembered going to an open air Albion Band gig [the AH, Kellie While, Joe Broughton, Pete Zorn lineup] in Bishop's Waltham around 2002, ran into Gerry at the bar before the gig and asked him what he was doing there.

"Oh, I'm playing with the band tonight", he replied.
"Oh right, where's [then current Albions drummer] Neil Marshall ?"
"He's on a cruise ship somewhere, so they asked me."

Ashley introduced him on stage thus : "And on drums...tonight only...on loan from Fairport Convention...Mr Gerry Conway !"
GC played the gig so nicely, if you weren't familiar with the Albions, you'd have assumed he was their regular sticksman.

One of my favourite gigs of distant memory was an Albion Band show at Bohunt School in Liphook c.'82-'84 (can't quite pin it down)...which featured Ashley, Simon and DM plus Cathy, possibly Dave Whetstone...first time I saw Ashley play.

With regards to Alan Prosser, on Volume 4 of The Guv’nor on Track 8-A Simple Melody is the band shown in that photo-Ashley, Alan, DM, Cathy Lesurf, Dave Whetstone, and Jean-Pierre Rasle…listed as 1983. Presumably Alan depped for Simon?

Nice one, Robert.  I think Simon was a little in and out of the Albions at this juncture so, yes, probably.  I remember being 16 or whatever I was and talking to older attendees at the Albion Band gig I mentioned in Liphook and the conversations were all very much of the "who is going to turn up tonight" kind.

I believe there was a short tour in Spain with Ashley, DM, Steve Knightly and Phil Beer - a sort of "Show of Albionport"
