Great to hear WKWTTG second up on the special edition of Desert Island Discs this morning. The songs of Sandy and Richard have a special resonance at this time.

All things come to those who wait, even decades further along.

The almost mythical Dudu P(h)ukwana & The Spears LP, featuring RT & SN, is finally getting a proper release.

Although it seems if the information herein is correct, the previously received wisdom, will need to be revised.

Whatever, having had the privilage of seeing the live combo at the Festival Hall in 1970, I'm totally stoked that this is at last becoming available.  Grin

Great spot, Ian.  I know precisely nothing about this at all.  Looking forward to checking it out...

Digging through the archives at Kirk Manor, I discover the attached acoustic duo review from 1990.

Saw Ric and Simon on this tour at Spring Street Theatre in Hull , really nice version of "Here There & Everywhere" and lots
Lots of entertaining banter , as you'd expect from these two
Hard to believe that was 30 years ago

What with all this Glastonbury malarkey going on this weekend, I am reminded that the first time I saw them live was in 1984 on the Pyramid Stage. Aside from ‘Sloth’, any ideas what was in the rest of the set? Looks like Bruce Rowland on drums. http://www.ukrockfestivals.com/glastonbury-1984-pix3.html

I was there.  It was the classic interregnum lineup - Simon, Peggy, Swarb, Bruce.  I don't know the setlist, but I could probably make it up pretty easily.  Never heard a recording...wonder if it exists?

I was there too! Wow! In fact, it was the first time I'd seen them live. Simon was playing his Cornflakes guitar for at least some of the set. I remember Sloth well. I seem to remember WKWTTG. I definitely remember The Hen's March and John Barleycorn.

In fact, you can hear John Barleycorn here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVs_pYRerM4 .

I saw them live for the first time, too, in 1984, but it was at Cropredy.

I love his work. My favourites are The Bone Clocks and Slade House. It’s hard to explain, but characters move seamlessly through different dimensions in time and place.

I  ‘went to’ a Hay Festival virtual interview about this new novel, it sounds very interesting.

Those two are probably my favourites. Slade house is just so much fun. I am rereading Black Swan Green right now and just finished the chapter where cousin Hugo comes to visit.

Looks like Dr Marinus makes an appearance in the new one.

Yeah, the one with DM in the crate was used as an A&M Promo Photo (in B&W) - look here: https://sites.google.com/site/twonightsatthefillmoreeast/fairport-convention

I've seen both in colour.  They'd definitely be my go-to pictures if I were botting together a Fairport 1970 bootleg too.   Wink
