Sometimes I get in a photography rut. Sometimes I need to remember why I like it in the first place. And sometimes I realize that 'It Ain't Enough'. Featuring a great song by Alan Doyle, formerly of Great Big Sea.

Related to my post in TUT. One that I forgot to share-a few weeks ago, a young and very talented writer from India used one of my photos for a wonderful piece of fiction. I was incredibly honored that something I did could result in such beauty from a person half the world away.

We had a great weekend at Lake George in the beautiful Adirondacks. While I was there I had an idea for a post and this is the result. Featuring a song by one of the truly great songwriters-Kris Kristofferson.

It is rare that the words pour out of me. Even rarer when there is clarity to them! But due to some changes I have been working into my life, I think there is less noise muddling my head. After convincing myself last year that what I do is art, I realized I also needed to ask, but what type of art is it? This post has helped sort that out, featuring a song by Ani DiFranco.

I have a hard time believing it myself in many ways, but this post is in celebration of my fourth year of writing Soundtrack Of A Photograph. Thanks to all of you who have encouraged and supported me with it over the years. Extra special thanks to Dan Ogus of this parish for some great help on this one. I imagined being able to be an outside observer in the setting up of a live concert from start to finish. As much of the nuance and skill that goes into it. To shave some length off I had to generalize some of it, but I hope I managed to capture some of what goes on. Music choice is the Travelin' Man/Beautiful Loser medley from my favorite live album of all time-Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band's Live Bullet. On to the next!

I'm not much of a nature photographer, and even less of a bird photographer, though I love all types. But I was inspired by this song by Jackie Venson to head out and take a few shots yesterday. Which is perfect because it let me write about her music and guitar playing.

Over the course of a year writing, some posts on the blog stick out more than others. This is my personal Best Of list as well as two posts where fellow bloggers wrote fictional stories based around one of my photos which is a huge honor. The top posts include songs from artists such as Ani DiFranco, Lila Downs, Plainsong, Alan Doyle, Toli Nameless, R.E.M., The Albion Band, Bob Seger and more. Have a look right here and thanks to all of you who continually read my little scribbles!

I managed to work in one more post in 2017. I don't do resolutions as such, but I like to think about where to adjust my life this time of year. What to focus on, what not to focus on. This is what came out of it, featuring a song off of Thea Gilmore's latest-

A question-What do Duke Ellington, The Chrysler Building, PG Wodehouse, and Art Deco all have in common? Read here to find out!

I wrote this newest post as much to me as to everyone else. Everything is fine, but I have decided to slowdown the blog for the time being to focus on me. Few songs describe this feeling better than 'The Voice' by The Moody Blues.

One of my favourite post-Pinder Moody Blues songs. Great to hear it again and I'd like to wish you all the best in your refocussing of your energies.

Thanks Mick. Absolutely one of my favorites too and when I had the ideas swirling around the words came back to me, so true is it. Appreciate the support. I will be back, I just need to sort stuff out but ironically since making this announcement I feel like a burden of sorts has been lifted. Like I pushed myself too hard perhaps and now I see it. Stay tuned!
