And a very nice man. I met him at Lytham Folk Club in the early seventies and he was very generous talking to this gauche teenager.

Sad news. The Railway Folk Club in Portsmouth, which sadly closed in 2003, hosted Archie for their very last gig - an excellent evening of music from a true gentleman of the genre. I remember him playing his own versions of The Wounded Whale and Dark Eyed Molly, as covered by FC.

I saw Jools a couple of times in the 80s before he formed his Big Band when it was a trio of himself, Gilson and a bass player. Sad news. He was a fine drummer.
