RIP Rick Davies, 81, the only constant member of Supertramp since their Inception in 1969.
Thanks for some stunningly great music.

Very sad about Rick Davies, although he had been ill a long time 😢
He, with, Roger Hodgson, wrote and performed some of my favourite music, Downstream and Even in the Quietest Moments have special meanings for me.

 RIP Rick

Just seen a post on Fairporters saying that Danny Thompson died yesterday.  Haven't seen any other corroboration yet though. |

That's sad.   So many of my records feature Danny.
I saw his own band  Whatever  at a small venue in the 80s.
 Can't believe it's 4 decades ago.

 RIP DT
A huge figure in so much of the music that I adore.

Last seen by me in Liverpool playing with Ryley Walker in, I think, 2016.  He looked pretty fragile then but still played beautifully, of course.  One of the genuine greats.

The latest post on FB says that it's fake news. Really don't know what to believe at this point.

Very sad news. I saw him a number of times with RT, the best line-up of his band being, in my opinion, with Danny, Michael Jerome and Pete Zorn. Also saw Danny and Richard play a superb duo gig in Blackpool which was nearly 20 years ago now.
And as MrsB just reminded me, he was a regular member of the Transatlantic Sessions house band.

Very sad to hear. I'm grateful for the times I got to see him play with RT, mostly in the U.K., as well as reading cricket(?) scores on the stage at Cropredy.
I particularly enjoyed the "Cabaret of Souls" premiere at a historic theater in State College, Pennsylvania, circa 2009. The occasion was an annual gathering of college students studying double bass. RT composed the whole piece to feature the instrument, and Danny was wonderful. It may have been his last performance on these shores, as he had stopped touring the states by then. R.I.P. and thanks for the fabulous music.

RIP much like John from Austin, we mainly saw him with RT and at Cropredy…I have friends who love to go to Transatlantic Sessions so they will be sad, too. |
