Iris Williams…Welsh singer…I mainly remember her for the single ‘He was beautiful’, when I was a child, in 1979…but she had many and varied achievements.

Oh gosh yes it"s on facebook. I've loved the Strawbs since my youth and this is like a family member has died. I only met him once, at a concert, we had a few words and he signed my ticket . RIP Dave , you gave me so much joy and comfort through music.

RIP Dave Cousins. We put The Acoustic Strawbs on at our Southsea Folk & Roots Festival in the early noughties - Dave Cousins, Dave Lambert and Brian Willoughby in a trio format, and I remember a fine evening of music. Their Cropredy 2007 set was excellent too...

Very sad about Dave Cousins. The internet tells me Strawbs played my home town once, in 1975, when I was a wee lad and far too young to be admitted to the Armadillo World HQ. I therefore got to see them only once, at Cropredy in 2007. "Two Weeks Last Summer" remains my favorite of many favorite Sandy Denny/Fotheringay performances, so hats off to the songwriter. R.I.P.

So sad. Lay Down was my first record and I have fond memories of seeing him and the band on several occasions. RIP

Dave's lyrics set the Strawbs apart from many bands for me. Many work as well read as sung, and as well as telling epic stories like Blue Angel, there is a poet's touch to many of his songs. His first solo album 2 Weeks Last Summer is a wonderful explosion of ideas all beautifully realised and unhidered by over production. RIP Dave.
