Deke Leonard!!
I was on the point of posting "Oh man!" in response to that but fortunately realised my error. I had a housemate at college who was a Man obsessive so I got to hear a lot of their stuff for a year or so, including what I remember to be a really good solo album by Deke. I could never recall which albums I had heard though, so never got round to buying them myself even though I always intended to. It is a sad loss and maybe it should be the catalyst for me tracking down the music that I heard 34 years ago.

...and more bugger! ![Sad](http://www.talkawhile.co.uk/~nicktalk/Smileys/nurse/sad.gif) Always enjoyed Man. One of the first bands I ever saw & caught them many times over the years (including Cropredy). I highly recommend Deke's 2 volumes of autobiography. Very amusing reads from his early days in various Welsh 'beat' groups and the may Man line-ups throughout the 60s and 70s... cheers, Slippy ![Cool](http://www.talkawhile.co.uk/~nicktalk/Smileys/nurse/cool.gif)

RIP Deke.
But, as one door closes, another slips open... while surfing t'interweb re Deke, I discovered there's a "Son of Man" album out - George (son of Micky) Jones et al playing (very) Man-influenced material - all studio, so no long jams. Clips on Amazon sound rather good to me - wahwah guitar, harmony vocals all present and correct.

Have just been checking Amazon and they are available as a twofer for £7.99.

Yes and according to reports he was planning to work with them this year. His passing seems to have been sudden and unexpected.

Despite them being local to me, I only recently discovered Man properly (and Son of Man). Deke's passing is very sad. RIP mate

Really sad about this. Saw Man and Deke (together and apart) many times. Always great (including at Cropredy, despite what others may tell you). A truly great guitarist. RIP.

Terrible news about Deke. A man of many talents and such a nice guy, blessed with a lovely dry, sardonic wit. He's been fairly quiet musically over the last couple of years but has recently been guesting with Son of Man and had just landed a deal to record another solo album. To borrow from one of his frequently-used song intros, why do they always take the good ones?

Tony Davis ("the tall one") of The Spinners 86.
Reading a piece about him on the Liverpool Echo website and spotted this unexpected quote:
Eric Faulkner of the Bay City Rollers also paid tribute, saying: "I grew up listening to Tony's music; he was a huge hero of mine and it was a real thrill and honour to share the stage with him at The Floral Pavilion. A sad, sad loss of a great friend and stalwart of the Folk scene."
RIP Tony.

Harry Sievey, 24, son of the late Chris Sievey, genius and aka Frank Sidebottom. Harry was killed riding his bike in a car accident. Harry was also a guitarist and seemed to be building up to something in music.
