Sad news.  One of my all-time Favourite  bass players. A really soulful player  who played with great taste and restraint & understood that less is often more...
Free had a very special groove - & he underpinned it.  They were so young too!!

Cheers,

Not quite a musician, but Doug Sax, mastering engineer for Pink Floyd amongst many others, stretching back to the 50's, has passed away...his most recent work was on Dylan's Shadows In The Night album.

Never heard of Mr Carroll, but have certainly heard Mr Sledge.  Rest in peace, gentlemen.

One time Beach Boys manager and lyricist during the Surf's Up - Carl & The Passions - Holland era Jack Rieley.  I'm a big fan of the contributions he made to some great songs of that period.

RIP Jack.

Jack Ely, lead singer of The Kingsmen, who's cover of Louie Louie is probably the best known version, passed away after "after a long battle with illness". He was 71. His son, Sean, confirmed the death on Wednesday. “Because of his religious beliefs, we’re not even sure what (the illness) was,” he said.
