Sad news. One of my all-time Favourite bass players. A really soulful player who played with great taste and restraint & understood that less is often more... Free had a very special groove - & he underpinned it. They were so young too!! Cheers, Slippy  |

Jack Ely, lead singer of The Kingsmen, who's cover of Louie Louie is probably the best known version, passed away after "after a long battle with illness". He was 71. His son, Sean, confirmed the death on Wednesday. “Because of his religious beliefs, we’re not even sure what (the illness) was,” he said.
