I think I lost interest after Wee Tam, although I do have 'Echo Coming Back' which I quite enjoyed. Somehow didn't make a connection to C.O.B. but then there was a lot I missed back then...

I bought a warped copy of COB's 'Spirit of Love' in a Tandy closing down sale on account of it having Ralph McTell's name on the sleeve. I love it still, and have gone on to collect as much of Clive's work as I can find. Sleep well, Clive.

Ah! Thank you! Not sure I'm ready to revisit... was dreadfully disappointed when I saw ISB in the 90s(?), but may give it go.
coB were much earlier than the 90s ISB. I saw the reformed ISB too and agree they were rather ramshackle. I don't think they were anywhere near as awful as many on here seem to think...but I do tend to think that Clive's banjo-led contributions were some of the high points. The 2 COB albums are '71-'72. Althought I'm guilty of introducing the word, I always feklt the ramshackle-ness of the ISB was part, possibly an essential part, of their charm. From what I know, Robin didn't like rehearsing but loved, and still loves, performing, so you get what you get on the night, if you go to see them. I saw them on Milennium night which was the first Mike/Robin live reunion, and then a couple of years later, and lastly I think around 2003, when it was Mike's band, really, though including Clive. I've never not enjoyed seeing them. |

Ive just seen, on fb, that Bobby Keys, saxman to the stones has died.
Born on the same day as Keith Richards, played on the Mad dogs and englishmen tour and all those Leon Russell adventures in the 70's.
