Would I be correct in thinking that he was the much in-demand percussionist chap?

No, he is the former bass player with the Oysterband.  There is another Ray Cooper who is indeed the percussionist of choice..

Er...Jules, I think you have got the wrong end of the stick here. Chopper was paying tribute to Phil Chevron.

Not only have I got the wrong end of the stick, but I proceeded to beat around the bush with it.   Roll Eyes

Long live both Ray Coopers!   Embarrassed

Gypie Mayo, former Feelgoods plank spanker, the only man who could have followed Wilko.

Bugger - just spent a long drive today listening to the Feelgoods - both Wilko and Mayo

Saw them twice - once with each guitarist - I agree James, he was the only real successor to Wilko.

I only ever saw him in 'the Yardbirds'.  Top guitarist.

Nice to see Wilko (or whoever operates his FB account) posted a brief message up there...

Just watching this now on BBC News Sad I was a huge fan in the 70s, and Transformer is still played regularly at chez Bridgwit. He certainly lived a life, but 71 is still young...

RIP Lou

Not always my favourite musician, but always an artist that knew how to push and inspire. A great loss to the wider music family

My least favorite music related news in quite some time.... Will definitely miss being able to believe that the next Lou Reed masterpiece could still be coming. His music (solo and with the VU) influenced me as a person so much.
