JJ Cale - died last night. I've got a few of his albums, but I never saw him perform. Such a talented man.

Oh no.  One of my other half's favourites.

Apparently he collapsed on stage at the Borderline whilst performing with the Deviants...and died in hospital shortly afterwards.

I'm sure I watched a documentary recently with him in it (about UK music festivals maybe?)

I'm not familar with his work but he seemed a larger than life character. RIP.

I know there are a few World Music devotees here, so I must share with sadness that Chiwoniso died last week at the ridiculously early age of 37.  A real innovator, blending traditional Zimbabwean forms with blues, jazz and reggae.

Just saw that about George Duke and was heading here to post.... Really a bummer. He was one of my favorite keyboardists and seemed like an all around cool guy. I really regret not making more of an effort to catch one of his solo shows.....

Very sorry to hear this news. I met Louisa at the Soundpost workshops at Dungworth, near Sheffield back in 2011. (Run by Fay Hield and Nancy Kerr, amongst others).

I attended one of her singing sessions. She was very encouraging - even if (like me) you made a mess of things! RIP Louisa.

I met Louisa at the first Soundpost weekend too, and also briefly at Sidmouth not long before that.  My lasting memory of her will be a long chat we had about the problems of buying clothes when you are one size at the top and another at the bottom.  We were the exact opposites of each other size-wise, so she suggested we went shopping together.  A rather silly, but lovely memory.  RIP Louisa.

Original country music outlaw Tompall Glaser, age 79.

Thankfully we still have Willie, Kris Kristofferson and Billy Joe Shaver (when he's not shooting guys in the face).

Shame, although not entirely unexpected given his health in recent years..good that he made it to the 40th reunion last year.
