Gary Brooker of Procol Harum.

Jules

RIP. A sad loss. I saw him a few times with Procul years ago and more recently at one of Paul Jones' Xmas charity shows. He was still in great voice.

There seemed to be a "he's dead, no he's not, actually he is" thing going on over the internet.  Not quite sure....(but being reported more widely now)

The post I saw had a link to the PH website. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it's definite.

He nearly died from Covid last year. Not sure what took him in the end.

I'm so heartily sick of everyone dying.

Just noticed that Nicky Tesco from The Members has passed away aged 66. One of those bands that there was much more to than their most famous song (Sound of the Suburbs) might have hinted at. Offshore Banking Business remains as relevant as it was more than 40 years ago.

Bobbie Nelson, 91 - Passed away March 10 in Austin.

She was Willie's older sister and played piano in his band from 1972 through last October. (I was very late to the party, having seen my first full-length Willie Nelson & The Family Band concert in 2013, but Mrs. J From A saw her first Willie Nelson show during his Outlaw Country hey-day in the '70s.)

I quickly learned that the pianist with the gorgeous, flowing hair, face hidden by a cowboy hat, was Willie's sister. He always gave her a featured solo, and always said she was the best musician in the band. By all accounts, she was also a spiritual woman who suffered tremendous loss with grace and dignity. R.I.P. Bobbie Nelson.

Focus Bassist from 1971 to 1978.
Rest in Peace.

I remember him well: the first person I ever heard do a bass solo live, when I saw Focus c1974, the concert that was recorded and released as "Focus Live at the Rainbow"

RIP Bert.

Very upset to hear this.  Great drummer (like his bandmate).  RIP Taylor.

"So saddened to hear of the death of Taylor Hawkins. If you want to play rock drums you're nothing without serious commitment. Taylor brought commitment in spades as he laid into that drum kit with  a huge smile, irrepressible energy and stratospheric levels of enthusiasm. These were all aspects of his personality and playing that I admired from afar and that brought so much pleasure to so many. It's a terrible loss of one so young with so much more to give. My sincere condolences to his wife, family and fellow Foo Fighters."  Bill Bruford.

Very sad about Taylor.

My son is an avid drummer and avid Foo Fighters fan, and it's his birthday today. Doses of Concrete and Gold, and Sonic Highways going on this morning.
