You just broke the news to me. I join you in your heartbreak. One of my absolute musical heroes. I am so glad that I got to see him live, both with the Monkees and solo.

I have bought someone a copy of the Dolenz Sings Nesmith album for Christmas and have already sent it to them. That feels a bit weird now.

Mensi of The Angelic Upstarts.

That's a real shame. Always a whole-hearted live performer.

He's the second member of the Angelic Upstarts to succumb to covid. Bass player, Tony "Feedback" Morrison died last February.

Really good article. I only have one solo (vinyl) album which I probably haven't listened to in 30 years. Time to to give it the attention it deserves

Really quite emotional...had no idea Nez was so frail.  Mickey D looks like he'll go on for ever...

Sad to hear about Mike Nesmith. A great songwriter and, it would seem, a nice guy.

yet more of my youth passes on.

Phil Chen, bassist extraordinaire for Rod Stewart, among many others.

I am a particular fan of an obscure Pete Townshend song called "Night School," buried as an extra on the White City laserdisc, that features a classic Phil Chen bass part reminiscent of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" RIP

John Morgan: Wurzels drummer dies after contracting Covid

I know they were a novelty act, but we saw them once, and they were great fun.

John was a lovely bloke, according to a few friends who knew him. He was very supportive of local musicians around the Forest of Dean and surrounding area.

Bill Bryden, producer of The Mysteries, Lark Rise, O Coruña (?) and other plays with FC/Albion/Steeleye connections, has died at the age of 79.

My parents bought a very early VHS recorder, so when The Mysteries were broadcast on TV, I persuaded them to record the programmes. I didn't get a VHS unit for about 5 years, so didn't see the plays for quite some time. Apparently they're on youtube. I've never graffiti'd in my life, but if I had, it would have been "Brian Glover is God". 😉

Just awful. Shane's dad is Dónal Lunny, from Planxty/The Bothy Band/Moving Hearts. Both parents will be going through the worst kind of traumatic pain. My heart goes out to them.

So young and a life that should have been lived way longer. Sinead has endured enough in her life without this, I hope her faith gives her strength at this time.
