Great story about Linda T and Don Everly.
My first concert was Everly Brothers in 1985, with my mum, dad and sister at Liverpool Empire. They're my dad's favourite band, and most car journeys when I was a kid were soundtracked by the Everlys, and also Plainsong which is how I got into Fairport.
I was surprised to read that Don is survived by his mum Margaret - aged 102.

Time, I imagine. Why do old people still have to die of something? It never used to be the case...they just died. Anyway, more importantly...what a ****er. Great drummer, and lovely bloke by all accounts. Is it still the Stones? It's getting more marginal now... |

Well, Darryl Jones is the neophyte at only 27 years with them (although he may well not be an official "Stone"). Charlie's long-time drum tech, Steve Jordan, was already going to fill his position for the next tour. "This may be the last time" indeed. |

I'm not sure Ronnie is contractually a "Stone" after what 45 years...
RIP Charlie , and for me the only man who could or should play the drums for the Rolling Stones
I don't think he particularly liked "rock" music , wasn't he more of a jazz buff ?

This is a very sad day. I did manage to see the Stones a few times between 1989 and 2015, but my favorite Charlie Watts performance was at the ARMS concert in Dallas, 1983. Liberated from the Rolling Stones songbook, he played all kinds of things, all the while in lock-step with Kenney Jones (similarly liberated). That was unforgettable. |
