Just read that Nanci Griffith has passed away. She was 68.
Very sad news. I discovered her music via Little Love Affairs when I was a teenager and it opened the door to a wonderful world of folk and country that I didn't even know existed. What a singer and songwriter she was! |

Very sad to hear this. As well as beatifully covering Julie Gold's "From A Distance", an exceptional set at Glatonbury one year, '97 I think, made me a convert. Country singer and songwriter- Tom T Hall, 'The Songwriter', aged 85. Tom wrote so many songs that people covered, I'd love to see a comprehensive list someday. But probably none as famous as Harper Valley PTA, although growing up, we had a copy of one of his children's albums which had my favorite song of his-Sneaky Snake. He had a terrific voice, but as I'm already seeing on social media, it was the quality of the man' songwriting that really stood out.

Albert Lee confirms it was Don that sang to Linda YAY! Jules Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel reunited the Everly Brothers for what turned out to be the final S&G tour in 2004. Mrs. J From A and I had floor seats in Austin, very near the stage, so we got to see Phil and Don in what turned out to be one of their final performances. (I believe they performed two songs as a duo, and S&G joined them for two more.) R.I.P. to them both. |
