Irish guitarist Arty McGlynn-75. One of those guys who has probably played, toured with or produced damn near every big name Irish artist of the last 50 years.

He produced Tom Pacheco's classic Sunflowers & Scarecrows too.

Talented fellow.

Phil, from our uke band, died this morning, following a heart attack yesterday. He'd been in hospital just before Christmas with breathing problems, and had been diagnosed with early lung cancer. He was in his 80s and had borne his cardiovascular problems for some time with great fortitude, dignity and good humour. We'll miss him... RIP Phil, we'll hammer out "Delilah" for you next time we play!

Music is not just about the sound...

Vaughan Oliver, in-house designer for 4AD records, has died.

“I was a working class lad from a dull town,”  “There was no real culture, my parents were not really interested in anything unusual – everything I was getting was through record sleeves. It was a democratic way of discovering art.”

His work so defined that label, those artists.  What a magnificent legacy.
