I echo the view that it's a crime that Jackie was not better known. Others have mentioned his guitar-playing, but for me it was his vocals that stood out. In fact, he's probably my favourite male singer, bar none. Best three albums so far as I am concerned: Forbidden Songs of the Dying West, The Argyll Cycle and Night Lilies.

And very different, but Doll by Doll really were great.  I went to 6th form college with Jo Shaw's nephew (and no, I've no idea why I'm telling you this).

My son supported him at a club gig and he took the trouble to listen to his songs and then talk about them after. Great man.
