My next promotion on Thursday 20th January has just got even better. Not only have we the wonderful and talented Clara Barker from the Isle of Man playing. But, what hopefully will be the TAW Horizon award winner, Lucy Ward will also be doing a full set.

All this for only £6.

There are some advantages in being the Promoter.

I had indeed noticed a high proportion of pretty young female singers among your recent bookings Andy. LOL

and I intend to keep it up. The next gig has lots of beautiful ladies. Firstly, Caz from Red Shoes, then Imogen the singer from Green Diesel and finally the stunning Leila.

Have confirmed some great gigs this week. As seems the current trend I'll release these one at a time.

For all you lovers of Space Rock on Saturday 18th June Space Ritual are at the Musician. This is a joint promotion with Cheeseweasel.

SO annoyed I can't be there for this (Mike & Leila will be though), especially as Green Diesel will also be there. Just too close to my exams.  Undecided

Getting fed up of having to deal with Agents. It's a lot easier dealing with the artists themselves. Even with Space Ritual I deal directly with Nik Turner, which still slightly freaks me out when he rings me. So why do still fairly small acts have to use a bloody agent.

Anyway, back to the point. After impressing nearly everybody with their support on the Wintour, I am pleased to announce that Katriona Gilmore and Jamie Roberts will be playing the Musician on Thursday 13th October. Tickets £7 advance. Put it in your diaries now.

This gig has been easy to arrange as I've dealt with Kat directly.

Hopefully, (agents willing) some more gigs will be announced shortly.

The cynic in me thinks:
Artists have their interests at heart.
Agents have their (the agents!) interests at heart, and concentrate their time on arrangements for their most lucrative artists.

Thus, for the excellent but affordable artists we are interested in, it is better for artist and promoter to work direct.

I've heard and read some horrifying things about agents.

If you think back to last August, who was the best live act there. You should have guessed by now, especially as I nominated them for the Hancock.

On Saturday 22nd October the mighty Leatherat are playing at the Musician in Leicester.

The venue doesn't normally have folk gigs on a weekend night, so I'm hoping to prove they should have more, as long as this is a success.

So put it in your diaries now. Tickets will be on sale soon, £8 advance.
