If you're at a loose end you can find me Scattering The Roots again on Express FM 93.7 this Sunday between 4-6 (I'll be on around 5, doing my 1/2 hour slot), where you'll hear the likes of The Byrds, Johnny Cash, Tuck & Patti, Jack Bruce, Fairport Convention and Tom Petty...

Static Electricity Why?

This thread really got me thinking, particularly as we've now lost Folkwaves, though the campaign for it's return continues, we really do need to support the radio shows that are featuring folk and acoustic music. Not only for our listening sanity, but also so that musicians, particularly those without record company apparatus behind them, can concentrate their efforts to get heard.

Full thoughts here http://www.fatea-records.co.uk/magazine/radiogaga.html

Cheers

Spot on article, Neil, particularly the quote "It's easier than ever to make a cd, harder than ever to get it heard." If anyone from the local area (or elsewhere even !) gives me stuff to play, and I think it's suitable for broadcast, i.e. I like it and want to share it, I'll always make an effort to include it in a programme.

There will be a track on the show with a certain level of cheesiness, but I hold Shep entirely responsible, as it was in fact a track of his choosing !  Grin

I just found my show and many others listed on this web site...

http://www.folknorthwest.co.uk/Wireless_Waves.htm

And I recently received some CD's from a promoter in New York who found my show listed on the frootsmag web site so if you play American artists on your show and fancy some freebies, send your details to them. Unfortunately they've got a link to my old MySpace page despite me emailing them an updated link.

And jolly good it was too (as was the internet connection for once, no stops at all).
Now, when are you going to give your listeners a taste of the Decemberists? Smiley

The Sunday repeat of my show on http://diversityfm.co.uk should be going out at 4pm today. For the playlist click on the link below in my sig. I ran out of time at the end so there's only a minute or two of The Wurzels "I Want To Be An Eddie Stobart Driver". You can hear the full thing on Spotify.
