Yes, I thought Grateful Dead fans would inevitably be drawn to an existential conundrum.... (No, sorry. Here is the link http://shop.realgonemusic.com/collections/sale/sale?page=4

Well, just an hour ago, our coach drove right down Haight, crossed Ashbury, past Buena Vista Park... Fortunately, t'other half was well impressed with the period buildings, so guess where we will be headed tomorrow?!

Sadly, I don't think you can sit on the steps any more...the owners have a gate across the front now.

Take a look at the Airplane mansion (2400 Fulton) which is close by. Check out Amoeba records as well ( I had a shopping spree in there..!). If you're staying over night you could check out 'The Red Victorian' hotel which is quite interesting.. Cheers, A very envious Slippy

Well, we didn't get to see the Airplane house or the Dead's, as it was extremely hot in SF, but I did pick up the Dead Closing of Winterland DVD and R<'s Shoot out The lights cd from Amoeba. Got Weir's new cd yesterday, had it on in the car... very good it is too, IMO.

Here's a thing. Pity that it's so late for us on this side of the pond. (1AM by my reckoning) http://nugs.tv/Bob-Weir-Capitol-Theater-Webcast-2016.asp

Here's the free Bob Weir stream to watch back. I've watched half of it so far, and it sounds mighty fine to me! http://nugs.tv/ I hope that link works for you.

I'd forgotten about about this until it turned up on my YouTube page. It's probably been posted before. Lowell George singing lead and playiing on outakes of 'Good Lovin'', there's also a version of 'I Need A Miracle' with him too. Superb stuff IMO. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ytY-XhvE0tE

It may not be entirely unconnected to their changinging consumption habits. From what I've read, the Lindley Meadows, Golden Gate Pak SF outdoor gig on 28th September 1975 (one of the "30 Trips Around The Sun" shows), was last occasion the band collectively used LSD on stage. Possibly a combination of not indulging in common experience & the increase in use of various, nastier & less conducive substances conspired to constrain them from maintaining their unique standard of performance. Alternatively, maybe it was just that their moment had passed Certainly, there are plenty of patches of fabulous output in subsequent years & even to the end they could turn in outstanding shows, albeit with less frequency, but in general, I also agree with Phil.

It blows my mind that people can be together enough to play music at all on LSD, never mind play cohesively within the confines of a band (even one as loose as the Dead). Jules
