I do sometimes slip into Victorian speak, I like the term Northern Britain - very London-centric  Smiley

If we are down south we will try to make Ormskirk.

Yes of course you are both spot on, Siobhan and Shelley! I wonder how you knew?  Roll Eyes

The marvelous Jim has confirmed today that is all 100% for The Rose Theatre on December the 4th. Splendid!

Mind you, we don't want December to come round in too much of a hurry  Sad

Good ol' Jim M.  He's going to be collaborating with the Rose Theatre regularly now, so there's the promise of lots of good things to come.

Dec 4th is now in our diary.  Hooray!

Excellent news indeed, and that date will be going in my diary as soon as I can find it!

And if the Halifax one is where I hope it is, that's a very easy venue to get to by train for us.

Having found my diary, I then left it at the Red Lion gig (along with a few other things).  What a twit I am!

Tim and I had a nightmare of a journey getting to Brum - slow traffic on M56, then thick fog, endless roadworks on the M6 and then several junctions worth of it closed, and a diversion to get back on it.  Poor Felicity the sat nav was going loopy.  We arrived just after Hannah and Sam finished (boooo!) but really enjoyed both of Gigspanner's sets - thanks chaps.  You were stunning!

Lovely to see you again Deborah (and thanks for finding my bag) and nice to meet Vikki for the first time - thanks for the advice about the Feast of Fiddles CD.  I shall be listening to that later.

Brilliant evening at the endearingly shambolic Red Lion with both the Horizon award winners and the Musician of  the Year!

Sam and Hannah were great. We'd never seen them before as a duo and weren't quite sure what to expect. Both are fine musicians, Hannah has a terrific voice and they were  very engaging between songs. The clog dancing was unexpected...never seen so much  energy in so small a space. (Both Hannah and the Red Lion stage are quite small..so read that how you will!)

What can we say about Gigspanner? Much the same set list as last week, but the experience is so different, which, of course is the joy of live music, particularly when Peter is playing. A slight buzz from "our" speaker (more wasp-in-a-bottle than Mayfly or Camberwell Beauty) was only noticeable between tunes and was soon sorted out by a cleaning a battery contact! Otherwise Gigspanner at their brilliant best as Roger and Vincent (who seems to have subtly introduced some great percussion solos!) were also on top form.

Away by 11.30 after 3 and a half hours of wonderful music and home in about 25 minutes (sorry to Vikki and Shelley - but I'm sure your journey - if a bit longer - was well worth it).

And finally a big thanks to Deborah for making it all happen.

It was a great evening on Saturday Grin

I'm so glad I found myself unexpectedly free and able to go!
Lovely to meet Shelley , and also to meet Steve and Julia properly this time (having rubbed shoulders at a couple of Steeleye gigs last year Wink)
And it was absolutely and completely worth only getting home at quarter to 2 in the morning when I had to get up for work at 5am...... (who says you need more than 2 hours sleep a night? Embarrassed Smiley)

So, only 5 days to go til Saturday's gig at Blockley  Cheesy

Oh, and Debs, I WILL be nagging you to book more gigs that I can get to Wink

She is getting well cheeky, that Vikki  Wink

Thanks to all of you for making such an effort to come along to the gig. I know that you were well rewarded with an evening of sublime musicianship (and dance! Shocked)

As Della said at the end of the evening, it was a concert that should have been seen by hundreds, but we'll get the message out there in the end. Give it time  Smiley

Lichfield Arts Centre (at their temporary premises at Holy Cross Hall) on Friday, and my gig at St George's Hall in Blockley on Saturday. Tickets selling VERY well for that one  Tiara Folks coming from far and wide.

All info here:

Do yourself a big favour and get along to one of you can  Cheesy

Diane, I only just noticed this.

I did look out for you, and I am sorry that you couldn't make it. Michele has written to ask for them again though, and so they will be back  Smiley

They are at The Castle in Wellingborough in June......is that in your area?

"and Vincent (who seems to have subtly introduced some great percussion solos!) were also on top form".

Yes Steve, Vincent was a maniac on the last two gigs  Cheesy and he is getting Jazz claps so often I think he has gone up a Hat size.......lovely stuff.

Actually, Roger really deserved some recognition for his brilliant guitar work, but it was a bit more difficult to decide when to clap. We need some sort of cue....can we rely on you to "whoop and holler" on Saturday?
