Just received the latest newsletter and with regard to the acoustic tour it says:

"This 5-piece line-up will present an acoustic stroll through the repertoire and provide a wonderful opportunity to rework some of our popular standards. We'll also be introducing innovative new arrangements of less well-known material. Despite featuring the same line-up as the full electric band, this tour will bring a very different take to Fairport's music. Oh, and we'll do requests at a push so don't be shy!"

So as I have permission, I will be very forward and offer my requests now ...

Over The Lancashire Hills
Pavanne

I've included two because I *might* be going to two gigs Grin

PS  I'd also settle for Honour And Praise, Summer Before The War, Ginnie, Men, Frozen Man, Lalla Rookh, Sailing Boat, The Golden Glove, The Lady Vanishes, Rosemary's Sister and After The Thrill - all of which haven't been heard for a while.

Why not?  Interesting suggestion.  The chaps say they will be introducing innovative new arrangements of less well-known material.

... and somewhere in or near London would be nice - a return to the band's ancestral home would be jolly convenient  Wink.

My musical vote would also go to Slip Jigs & Reels - one of my favourites.

Honour and Praise, My Love is in America, London River, Level Pegging and Golden Glove and a visit as a 5 piece to the States for the first time since what, 89? Maybe as a Tull opener to save us from dear old Peter Frampton? I mean who could be a more perfect opener for Tull's 40th? Or closer, I don't care. That 5 will shortly turn to twenty if'n I don't get outta here. Poor Will and the Jolly Hangman, sudden appearances by RT or IA

Pop Plinn it is. It's an Alan Stivell version of a Breton dance (a Plinn). Dan played in Stivell's band so that'll be how it found its way to Fairport. They should do more Breton music - it's wonderful stuff.

My Breton uncle had a Newfoundland called Plinn. Bet you all wanted to know that!

A couple of new things that Chris played last night in Leeds... a song called Geronimo's Cadillac.. and a tune which he introduced in Franglasie and was (If I remember correctly..) a French waltz....but he really let rip on it and it is well worth many more outings!!

I know this is unlikely to happen, but as I wasn't able to get to the Winter Tour, I'd love to hear the Babbacombe Lee songs you've all been raving about.

Apart from that, well... how about some (or all  Grin) of the following:
The Eynsham Poacher, Wizard of the Worldly Game, Sir William Gower, Dark Eyed Molly, The Islands, Golden Glove, Sailing Boat, Nottamun Town, Reynardine, Lalla Rookh, To Althea From Prison, Travelling By Steam, Sir Patrick Spens, Honour and Praise, Bonny Bunch of Roses...

Will that do for starters?
