Thanks for the link. Is the interviewer the same person in The Trial of Ralph McTell?

It's Tim Quinn interviewing Ralph. This is 'The Trial' info

The very Monty Python-esque sketch, which was custom made for guitarists and bassists, features appearances by Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Dire Straits' Mark Knopfler and Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister, plus Gary Moore and Level 42 bassist Mark King—all of whom jam a bit at the end. The two gents at the beginning of the sketch are Rowland Rivron and Simon Brint; Dawn French plays the judge and Jennifer Saunders is the stenographer.

Where have you been?  Wink Wink Grin

It is so moving isn't it? I plan to watch it around Remembrance day each year. Ralph gets very emotional when he speaks about it all.  Cry

I watched it on my phone then put it on the TV for Mike to see. Mike has sung at the Menin Gate with the Barry Male Voice Choir. We both sat blubbing!  Cry  I wonder if the whole concert is on YouTube. Must go and investigate.... Smiley

Welsh male voice choirs bring out the emotion in me. Have you listened to Ralph singing 'The Enemy Within' with the colliery band and male voice choir as backing? It's on his 'Sand in your Shoes album' A very fine album indeed from a good few years back.

A word from Ralph on Remembrance Sunday....

As I write this, my new recording of The Unknown Soldier is just back from mastering.  The astonishingly gifted Graham Preskett, a hugely talented musician, has arranged the work. We were unimpeded by the Covid rules; despite being restricted to only 5 musicians at a time into the studio and the horn section submitting their parts via the internet, Graham managed to weave the different elements together seamlessly.

I wanted this version to represent all the Home Nations who fought in the Great War and asked an old friend and a couple of new ones if they would read the spoken sections of the piece.  They all agreed and waived any fees so that all revenue raised can go straight to the Royal British Legion Poppy Day appeal.

 Sir Billy Connolly represents Scotland.
 Sir Anthony Hopkins represents Wales.
 Liam Neeson OBE represents Ireland.
Yours truly represents Croydon and England.

We are also producing a brief film about the story of the Unknown Soldier and my motivation to write the song.  Both the song and the film will be available free to view on all my social media on Remembrance Sunday, 8th of November, with a click-to-donate button for those who feel able to give on my Facebook page.
