The Swedish webshop I usually buy my music from, announces three remastered Fairport CD:s with release date February 26th. Gottle O´ Geer, Bonny Bunch of Roses and Tippler's Tales. There was no further info. Has anyone got any knowledge about label(s) and possibility of bonus tracks?

Island, I believe.

There was a flyer in the Fairport printed newsletter mailing about them. Only one has an extra track, but they've all been remastered.

I'll bet it is.  They'll be leasing BBOR and TT from Vertigo (or whoever owns Vertigo now) so they probably won't be able to go delving into the archives.

Now if only someone would reissue First Light and Sunnyvista!

By the way, if we're including Gottle in this thread, shouldn't we retitle it?  "70s classics" and Gottle O'Geer.....no compute!

 Wink

Veering very slightly Off Topic, I believe that these are the only two albums to which RT owns the rights and he can't find the master tapes.

having already got these on cd, re-releases without the usual slew of extras doesnt really make these indispensible, re-mastering or not

poor show

Hmmm...do we believe him?

Has he looked hard enough?

Either way, it's downright careless!

I know they're not anyone's favourite R&L albums, but they really should be available.

Perhaps you should contact him through his website and ask him directly if he's looked hard enough.... Cheesy

I really like First Light. Not my favourite, but definately in the top half of his canon.

I bought (non-remastered) Gottle o'geer today.

Its.......different.

Had not realised befor I read the sleevenotes that its by 'Fairport', and not 'Fairport Convention'.

This does beg the question - why not wait a few weekes for the remaster if you are going to buy it at all?
