I don't think the shot of the baby being fed the dregs of someone's beer glass would pass the censors these days! Where is that child now, I wonder...?!
Parliament?

This has been on Youtube for a couple of years so may have been posted here before. Even so, it's still worth another outing. Fairport Convention. Vienna Folk festival 18th Aug. 1985 with added Richard Thompson + Jerry Donahue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8WluvM44ys

It's only weeks before the debut of the new lineup and yet Swarb is still holding court. And a rare chance to see some footage of Richard and Jerry duelling. Great, great video. I think this lineup (minus Richard or Jerry - I forget which) also played one more date in Belgium maybe? So I guess that counts as Swarb's last proper Fairport performance (Cropredy and Ceilidh band notwithstanding)

Thank you for sharing this - it is both brilliant and baffling. The conventional narrative has always been that they broke up in 1979, and after that it was annual reunion concerts, swarb’s hearing prevented them doing more. But there is evidence of quite a few gigs in this era. So a couple of questions to the more informed about these parts - were fairport still a working band during this era but just not recording? This appears to be just weeks before Glady’s Leap (as another post mentions) - so what really happened? Does anyone know? Why have this era of the band’s history been turned into such a different narrative? Was there deeper band politics at play , that surely now enough time has passed that they can be honest? So I guess that counts as Swarb's last proper Fairport performance (Cropredy and Ceilidh band notwithstanding) They played gigs (in addition to Cropredy) in every year between '79 and '85. Not huge numbers of them but a short winter tour and then generally a few more around Cropredy and the occasional other one. Remember Peggy was as busy as anything with Tull most of the time... Swarb and Simon played some gigs. Not really sure what Bruce was doing - session work I imagine. And then in '84 I think (or was it '85)...DM replaced Bruce and that 4 piece played some US gigs...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz_UgLWuqhEA recording of FC at Acapela, Pentyrch, Wales, 19th October 2023 has appeared where these things appear. If you're interested in this sort of thing, I guess it's six of one or half a dozen of the other. The audio has been matched to video to produce this. There is also footage of Bankruptured and John Gaudie.
