I'm not sure if this has been posted previously, but I stumbled across it today while watching Rufus Wainwright/Simon Nicol/Ashley Hutchings performing "WKWTTG" at the Folk Awards a few years back:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNPjkZAYavg

Glen Hansard and Richard Thompson doing a splendid version of the same song in North Carolina, back in 2015.

Really nice version.

It is.  It makes a really nice change to not hear someone (generally female) trying to 'out-sing' Sandy.  This is the guy from the Frames?

Here's a video of Al Stewart's backing band covering MOTL on the current UK tour: https://www.facebook.com/1207771766/videos/1700958276971170/

They don't make a bad fist of it, I reckon.

Thanks.  Got it.

Not for me - horribly oversung would be my brief summation.

I first saw this duo, LEANNAN late 2021 . Booked them for a fest in 2022, when they completely won over a predominantly unfolky crowd and then I  was playing at the same house gig, just before Christmas.
They played this for me. ‘‘Twas special. I like it cos she’s not trying to be Sandy.
I have a Vikki Clayton version that I return to , as well as the original, obviously.

Yes, this is a fine attempt. I prefer the woman's vocals which serve the lyrics well. Nice group to have joined, thanks.

Lovely version. As you say, she'd not trying to be Sandy, just herself.

Decent, that one...and yes, so good to hear someone sing a Sandy song in their own voice.

Fairport at the 1970 Philadelphia Folk Festival. Apparently the whole three days were filmed and edited into a three part series for broadcast in the US. Unfortunately all that appears to survive of Fairport's set is a shade over two minutes long and frustratingly concentrates almost entirely on the audience dancing. Oh well, I thought I'd stumbled on something significant there.

The whole broadcast is here

Mine is really the Bruce/Swarb foursome but I have a lot of affection for the early years of this lineup, especially live. E N E R G Y.  From the days when they were still a folk-rock band... Undecided

ps like one of the comments I too reckon it's early 90s not 80s...
