we acquired a dvd the other day called 'Soundstage Performances', footage of three live studio performances from '67, '68, and ''69. i'd seen 'the doors' movie too much i think and forgotten how truly genius the real thing were. it includes the only live performance of 'soft parade', interviews from 2002 with the three remaining doors and their manager (whose name escapes me), and the only (and i quote) recorded tv interview with the band from '69, when jim had got as far as the beard but not as far as the fat......... i'd recommend it to anyone who thinks they might like the doors just a little bit and total fans alike. it was released in 2002 i think and is in woollies for £4.99 at the moment. its restored my faith in wierdness

Light My Fire. Life changing music, that swirling fairground organ and the fabulous blues/jazz guitar.
But Horse Latitudes is the most pretentious noise ever committed to vinyl.

Where the sun sets, and the melody is fine, I shall be dancing merry with the 'Lord of the Dance'. I will be happy, and let the soul of the earth flow through me.

Essex - hence "This is the end, My only friend, Southend". From somewhere near Fingeringhoe to be precise.

I quite like Other Voices...not as keen on Full Circle. There are worse Doors albums.
