A quick review from Ian - Roadworks Club Night Organiser

Angie Palmer was the showcased act for the opening night of 'Roadworks' at the Cinnamon Club in Altrincham, and true to form, played a blinder.  With material drawn from both her last album, 'Road' and her soon to be launched new CD 'Tales of Light and Darkness', plus a couple of covers of original by artists such as Gillian Welch, Angie drew the crowd into her world full of literate songs that explore a range of human emotions.   Hitting hard on her beautiful (both in terms of looks and sound) Martin Acoustic, and with pitch perfect, emotional and powerful vocals, she moved from slower paced, gentler material in her first set, to finish with a number of up tempo songs which got everyones feet tapping.

We couldn't have asked for a better opening night, apart from possibly a few more bums on seats, but it was a great start, and, as a 'not for profit' night, the main thing is that we didn't lose money!

Many thanks to all those on the forum who sent their 'good luck' messages - off to a good start, just got to build from here.

I can thoroughly recommend Angie to anyone who is looking to book an artist in her genre.  She is a great player and singer, writes superb songs, and has been a joy to deal with from an organisers point of view - she and her partner Paul are very laid back and genuinely nice people.  Catch a show soon. Her website is : www.angiepalmer.com

Seems that she's changed her website to www.angiepalmer.co.uk according to an item on the front page of the former site...
