OK all you musical dad's Who is up for this : "The Word Magazine can make your Dad's rock dream come true.
In the new issue of The Word they pay tribute to "Rock Dad", the guy who teaches his kids the chords of Smoke On The Water, lends them his old tee shirts and takes them to their first rock festival.
Plus the great guys at The Word are offering all Rock Dads Bands the chance to enter a competition to play alongside Robert Plant and Mike Scott at Cornbury Festival on July 9th on the Main Stage!!! How cool is that!
And with Father's Day on June 19th now is the time to act! All you'll need is an MP3 demo of one cover version and one original, a band pic, a biography and the guarantee that at least two members are bona fide dads. Send it to competition@wordmagazine.co.uk. Judges include Mark Ellen and Live Aid PR guru Bernard Doherty.
Call a rehearsal now! Time is short!
See the new issue of The Word for a lot more details"Get practicing. Sandra

Could be worth a look. I play guitar with a guy in church. My son is a bassist, and his son is a drummer, so we should be able to fill the criteria. Paul

Ahem. We've entered this.... while not wanting to put a damper your creative urges old boy, what do the lads play, or have you begot a pair of child vituoso's like neil reid? It's the dads they want, not the rugrats. So we're well qualified. But since you've asked, the boys are currently working on their first opera, Tev on score, Joseph on libretto. It's quite good if a little derivative, I swear we must have played them too much Mozart when they were crib-bound. I know, I know, it's basically just bad parenting, but you have to make mistakes in this life sometimes to truly learn. Nonetheless they're coming on well and with the right tuition should be household names by Xmas.

Just showed that to my son - I'm gonna be in Sri Lanka on 9th July so no point in entering - but he said if I had won it 'twould be the first time since John Bonham died that Plant would have had a decent drummer !! Bless him !! And he is a Zep fan..........
( Wonder what he wants.........reckon he thinks that will have given him masses of brownie points - he's still NOT getting to borrow my CDs until he knows how to keep 'em clean )
